THE WORD BECAME FLESH
The mystery of the God-Man

 The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is True God and True man all at the same time. This is a great mystery for our finite minds to grasp. And as with other Biblically  revealed mysteries, we may not be able to grasp it by reasoning or science or logic or experience. But that doesn't  make such a mystery any less true. We need to "understand" it  by faith. We need to take the attitude,

 "Lord, this doesn't make any sense to me..it is a seeming contradiction...there is nothing in this world to compare this with....nevertheless, if You say that this is true in Your Word, and I know that You would not lie to me, then I accept it as being true, even though I don't understand it." 

Isa 55:8-9 (KJV) 
{8} For my thoughts are not your thoughts, 
neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 
{9} For as the heavens are higher than the earth, 
so are my ways higher than your ways, 
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Always remember that God is a Genius of Infinite Magnitude. He does things on an "every-day" basis in the universe that are incomprehensible to us in quality, quantity and complexity. Even with the most advanced logic, science, higher mathematics or supercomputers, we can only grasp a tiny amount of everything  He knows about the world in which we live. But God knows all there is to know about the universe. He coordinates it and governs it at all times and perfectly so that it operates seamlessly according to His own will and agenda.

We also can know  very little about spiritual truths, ie. things which are not detectible or observeable by scientific means. It is true that each of us has a conscience, which allows us to sense the diffrence between good and evil, right and wrong, justice, reward, and punishment. We have vague feelings and thoughts about eternity and ultimate perfection, although those things are not demonstrated in our earthly lives.  In fact, some philosophers have suggested that since we have these and other non-materialistic concepts at all, that their presence in our thinking proves that God must exist...a God who has these qualities has passed them along to us, leaving us with the ability to talk about them. 
Rom 1:18-20 (KJV) 
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven 
against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, 
who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 
{19} Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; 
for God hath showed it unto them. 
{20} For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world 
are clearly seen,
 being understood by the things that are made, 
even his eternal power and Godhead; 
so that they are without excuse:

God wants to somehow bring all these truths down to our level and explain them, if we are to understand them properly. Some are so different from our earthly experience He must REVEAL them to us. It is up to us to believe these revelations are true, even though we cannot understand them. 

Therein lies the necessity of using FAITH to "understand"  that which can not be understood with the logical mind. So we have this basic definition of faith, given in the Scripture itself:

Heb 11:1 
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
 the evidence of things not seen.

And so it is with the Dual Nature of Christ, as both True God and True Man. Jesus Christ has every attribute that God has... Eternal Self-Existence, Omnipotence(all powerful), Omnipresence(present at all places at once), Immutablilty(does not change), Omniscience(All knowledge of all things)...and many many more. 

Heb 1:1-3 (KJV)
 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners 
spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 
{2} Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, 
whom he hath appointed heir of all things, 
by whom also he made the worlds; 
{3} Who being the brightness of his glory, 
and the express image of his person, 
and upholding all things by the word of his power, 
when he had by himself purged our sins, 
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

As True God, Jesus can say, 

John 14:9
If you have seen me, 
you have seen the Father

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, 
and the Word was with God, 
and the Word was God. 

 John 10:30
I and my Father are one.

As true man He can say:

Heb 10:5-7 (KJV) 
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, 
Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, 
but a body hast thou prepared me: 
{6} In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. 
{7} Then said I, Lo, I come
 (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) 
to do thy will, O God.

Heb 2:14 (KJV)
 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, 
he also himself likewise took part of the same; 
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death,
 that is, the devil;

Mat 1:23 (KJV)
 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, 
and shall bring forth a son, 
and they shall call his name Emmanuel, 
which being interpreted is, God with us.

The Son of God, Who created the universe, who existed in Eternity with the Father, became an actual human being, a true man, He is able to do everything we do and experience all temptations that we face, the same as any man. He came here to reveal in His life what the previously unseen and unknowable God is like. This dual nature of the God/Man that makes Him the perfect sacrifice for our sins, and the perfect intercessor for us with the Father.

This fact is one of the greatest mysteries of the universe. It says that God became human: the Divine, all powerful, omni-present God took on a human body so that He could teach and touch and heal and reclaim His lost creation by His own death on the cross. 

While being totally human, He nevertheless showed that He retained the Divine presence inside Himself. He over-ruled the laws of physics, weather, chemistry, botany, fishery, He miraculously healed the unhealable, was able to read people's thoughts, predicted the future with 100% accuracy, forgave sins (which only God can do), lived a perfect and sinless life, arose from the dead, ascended bodily into Heaven, then came back to earth with a glorified body and walked through walls, ate food, and opened the Scriptures to his followers. 

Heb 4:15 
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched 
with the feeling of our infirmities;
 but was in all points tempted like as we are,
 yet without sin.

John 1:14 
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, 
(and we beheld his glory, 
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) 
full of grace and truth. 

 John 8:40 
But now ye seek to kill me,
 a man that hath told you the truth, 
which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

Acts 2:22 
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; 
Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you 
by miracles and wonders and signs, 
which God did by him in the midst of you,
 as ye yourselves also know:

Mat 1:23

and shall bring forth a son, 
and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
 which being interpreted is, God with us.

May the Holy Spirit, the God of all Truth, teach you and reveal these truths to your heart, by faith.
