As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord ´
“Igniting soul’s through the proclamation of Jesus Christ”.
Focus: "I know, O' Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness
hast afflicted me." (Psalm 119:75)
Submission, not a verse you normally would attribute to submission, but it is nonetheless. Submission means to accept whatever you are challenged with, be
obedient to it and allow it to have an impact on your life. In this case the Psalmist was challenged with affliction, but, all through the realization of his affliction, He declared that God was faithful and that it was in his best interests. What is affliction? Suffering, burdens, difficulties, problems, hardships, pain, trouble, misfortune are all examples of "affliction".
Let us Pray: "Father, grant me the grace to endure affliction, help us to grow through it. Help us move closer to You in greater devotion and deeper commitment with a humble and submitted heart that is learning to find pleasure in the midst of affliction. Father, help us to remember that Your work in our life is for our good, that You are for us and not against us, that Your goal is for us to find peace with You regardless of what state we find ourself in. Lord, we love You and we submit our mind, our body, and our soul to Your keeping, You know what's best for us and we're learning to trust You more and more each day. Father, may we choose to praise You, to thank You, and to love You in the midst of life's problems, when we're in the valley, You are there with us. When we're on the mountaintop, You're there with us. When we're afflicted, You are there with us, when we are completely whole, You are there with us. You are more than we could ever hope to find in a trustworthy Friend, we love you, Lord. Holy and loving God, help us to shine Your light of holiness and Jesus' light of hope to those trapped in darkness. O' God, please forgive our sinful failures. Please cleanse us and create a pure heart in each of us. We don't want to dim or to diminish Your light as it shines through us. Help us so that we can more perfectly shine Your light to those around us. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen."
How many times do we disdain the discomforts life brings us? I know I do all the time through feeling sorry for myself, through the shedding of tears when I remember how easy life "used" to be. Our afflictions are Not by chance, they serve a divine purpose because God loves us and He wants the best for us. There is some good reason for our affliction, good reason that it should be done or some lesson to be learned. There is always some happy influence in our life as a result of affliction, and ultimately our happiness in heaven, in living eternally in the presence of the One we love. Regardless, any purpose for affliction is more than compensation for all that we suffer. Are you willing to submit to the ultimate purposes of God in your life? Then understand these purposes include some affliction in one way or another. It could manifest itself in physical malady, it could manifest itself in financial need. It could manifest itself in dreadful disappointments,
it could manifest itself in broken or strained relationships. But, regardless of how it comes to you, affliction is part of life. Embrace it, learn the most from it, grow from it and count God as faithful through it. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, what better time to be reassured of His promises than in the midst of affliction.
"Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man." Psalm 112:4
