"Follow My Example" How many of us as children have heard the expression "Do as I say and not as I do"? Usually this came from parents who knew they were doing something inappropriate. Thankfully, all of us have a common Father who admonishes us, through His word, to not only do as He says but also as He does. Jesus Christ, God in the flesh (John 1:14), told His disciples that "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise (John 5:19). The apostle Paul confirmed this teaching when he told the Corinthian brethren to "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (1 Cor 11:1). Paul also reminded the Christians in Thessalonica of what they apparently already knew: "For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you" (2 Thess 3:7). Our heavenly Father has left us with many examples by which to model our lives, Jesus Christ being the first and greatest. There have been many people in my life that have taught me great Christian principles by simple living a godly life. God expects each of His children to be able to say "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ". If you cannot say that with a sincere heart, then it is time for you to make a change in the way you live.
