There's a very well written article on balancing internet load across multiple 
connections, located at:

Though my system was "dual homed", it was not load-balanced.  This also means 
(at least in my case) it did not have outbound data redundancy.

Issuing these two sample commands has added that capability, and it was very 
easy...

route del default
ip route add default equalize \
     nexthop via 63.89.102.1 dev eth1 \
     nexthop via 65.3.17.1 dev eth2
