Hello, all!
Just looking over my lovely new boxed set today, and getting
ready to start a campaign rolling...
I am very happy with how the rules handle lots of situations, but
I do have a question regarding rescue from sin enchantments.
Well, a couple, I guess.
I have played a "Superhero" game in the past where one of the
specified rules is that, true to comic-book format, a lengthy speech
can be made in the middle of action sequences with no penalty (for
instance, Captain Whoever can say, "Now that I've seen through your
foul plot and escaped from your deathtrap, you will receive your just
punishment, o foul archenemy", in-between the jab and cross of a
one-two punch combination, even though there's no way he could in real
life). In DragonRaid, should players be allowed the same chance with
WordRunes, such as to increase a Character strength for defensive or
offensive purposes during a fight that's already going on? Is that
abuse of the rules, or is it a healthy emphasis on the scripture?
Okay - say a character is facing a Greedo enchantment. If he
knows that, and recites the "Worthless treasures", it takes two
difficulty levels off of the attack he needs to resist, right? After
he has failed to resist, will it help if another player quotes this to
him, or even if he quotes it himself? Since this is unique to
DragonRaid, I am trying to figure out how "tough" it ought to be to
effect a rescue from enchantment. Of course I guess it should vary
with the group's level.
Thanks in advance for your comments...
