Reply to: RE:[DragonRaid] D&D, faking, and a whole lot of other great s Snip If I were at a party and I pretended to drink alcohol and really didn't, the fact that I didn't drink it would be irrelevant because people would think I had. Snip I agree with avoiding evil and it's appearances. I agree that we should stand up for what is right and true with God. Although the scenerio that BrianB and PaulB have used to illustrate this, is good (attending a party and holding a beer can or glass of something) in the overall sense, I do not think it dovetails with the LRT scenerio. Attending a party is a social event choice. If you are there, and drinking is involved, you may get accused later regardless. You are certain to get spilled on and also soak up the cig smoke. Ten miles down the road, you still reek. That situation pivots on your choice of attending the party. The LRT scenerio is more akin to getting a gun pointed at you by some street punk and being threatened with death if you don't drink. Big difference here. There is more than just the drinking at stake. The OLMN has sent the party to rescue another LR. If the party gets wiped out by the giant, that LR becomes dinner for the dragons. The group knows the OLMN wants them to rescue a Light Raider. They have this BIG rowdy giant in front of them. Clearly it bodes ill for the party. The options are fight and risk failing their divine mission or find another way around the problem. I recall that in relating experiences of various groups running the LRT, some cases ivolved the group retreating a few yards to discuss their options/strategy. With a bit of discrete discussion among the group, choosing to pretend (to a Dark Creature) rather than endanger the mission is a plausible and non-stumbling block strategy. As a measure of discipline, the AM should still enforce an ability check against the appropriate characteristic (bonus optional) to drive home the importance of self control and the temptation of taking "just a wee dram" anyway. If you think I'm way off base or out of line, please feel free to counsel me. Who knows, maybe I'm under a Sin Enchantment and don't know it. Brin Tor
