Crusaders of God- I would simply like to respond to a few of the questions John raised in order to clarify what I said in my previous post. John brought up the good point that in order to play D&D in a good way, you would have to take out what a lot of players find fun. I never denied this, but those "lot of players" are not the kind of people I would want to play with anyway. Especially those "kill-everyone-and-take-their-gold" types. People whao play like this don't know how to role-play anyway. John, at one point you said that you didn't believe that you had disagreed with a particular statement. I never said you did. My former post was general comments, I never intended to address anyone in specific at that time. The last thing I would want to do is to put words into other people's mouths. As to the statement about rpgs getting uncontrollable, I'd have to agree. Yet this can happen in any game, it even happened to me once. One of my LRs destroyed the focus of game play continually, and once even broke out into singing about beer and marijauna in the middle of the game! We eventually asked him to leave the group. This situation can happen in any game. As to the D&D campaign I ran, most of the people had been playing longer than I, and had probably already been exposed to the worse side of D&D anyway, my campaign couldn't have damaged them any more. John was right in saying that I had a typo. I meant to say that the only people I ever knew that thought D&D evil were Christians. John said that maybe I should be versed in more controversial issues, such as the pro-life battle. I would like to emphasize that I am well-versed in this struggle. I have been since way back in eigth grade where I proposed my pro-life bill in model congress to eliminate abortion. I was attacked viciously by people who with all due fairness I would have to describe as close-minded, hippocritical bigots. I hate to use such affensive terminology, but those are the only words I can use to describe them. They simply wouldn't listen to the obvious truths. I have read Randy Alcorn's Deadline, which does cover the issues to a serious degree. I continue to write articles to the newspaper in support of the truth. Its not that I'm avoiding these battles, I'm immersed in them. Its just that another wouldn't hurt. As to my statement about the committees position against D&D, I would like to make a few comments. First of all, I wasn't saying that I expect God to come out of Heaven and give us the answer. All I was saying was that perhaps we shouldn't be making His decisions for Him. Don't get me wrong, what my impression was is that the committee has taken an ACTIVE position against D&D. What I'm saying is that rather it should be the policy to take a PASSIVE approach to the issue, not dealing with it if possible, but genrally discouraging it. Perhaps I've simply misunderstood previous posts. As to being a stumbling block to Christians that play D&D, I'm not saying that we shouldn't prevent people from falling into sin. What I am saying is that to a Christian who is playing D&D in a good way, some of the comments I have seen here can be quite offensive. Its not that I think that any of you here intend to be offensive, rather that it sometimes seems to come out that way. I know I have found some of the arguing to be harsh and forceful. I may have come out this way as well, and if I have, you have my most sincere apologies. Perhaps we all just need to draw on a little more of Christ's love in this. As to the argument ratings, I don't think that the AM should write the ratings. I think we should come up with them for DR2, and the AM simply has to role-play them. Anyway, I'm not trying to offend anyone or make anyone angry, I just hoped to express and clarify my views to you guys. May God guide us all. In Christ, Brian Indrelie brindrel@...
