C Dell,
I agree that you should have the player memorize the Great Rescue
WordRunes first. I have gone as far as add 2 point bonus to there
characters PV for each one memorized by a certain date (about 2 weeks,
depending on who and how often you meet). With the boosted PV I
usually have to throw in a couple more goblins or an extra troll to
keep the battles from being too easy.
I also help the characters determine there weak spots and recommend
first WordRunes to memorize. Then we look at what WRunes that
character CAN use and which will be most beneficial to the party right
off.
When I was a youth member at my church, we had a memoriathon. It was
a lock-in one weekend during Christmas Vacation. We gathered sponsors
to pledge a nickel, dime, quarter, or dollar for each verse we could
say from memory that night. Most of them were lost in the 2 am fuzz,
but some I still carry with me today, and others, if you got me
started I could still finish.
It made many feel more confident with many of the verses and we had a
little money for missions afterwards. Also, I think the one who
memorized the most got a set of StarLots or something.
Now I email my players with hints as to which WordRunes they might
want to have handy. :) What ever works.
Asking, seeking, and knocking,
Clint

I have just read through the materials for Dragonraid; I am looking
for
some practical advice with regard to the Wordrunes: Do you AM's out
there
just tell players to go memorize the lot of them? Or are there
other ways
of acclimating them to the use of these verses. Any assistance
would be
greatly appreciated :)
Sincerely,
C Dell
