They may represent the Spirit's guidance, but that does not mean that
they are angels.  The way I read the rules, they are just talking
animals, not angels.  Remember Balim's donkey?  Angel and donkey were
present, not two angels.   And again, as Rich said, everything in the
game system does not have to have a parallel.
