I'm with the other camp on this. Please let DR be in "normal" space. Perhaps a unique raid can occur in a Dali-esque setting. Maybe the OLMN could embark the group on a prophetic "caught up in the spirit" vision raid or something. A place where only Word Runes work and swords are useless. 
Changing the whole fabric of space will only detract, I fear, from the purpose of discipleship. The kids will be too wrapped up (or warped up) in figuring out flat earths and paper moons.

What escape velocity?  With Rich's idea this isn't a round planet in
outer space so the sun just floats way up in the atmosphere.  Right,
