These are not 100% official, but they may be ;-) Joe R **************************************************** DragonSlayer LO+JO+PE+PA+KI+GO+FA+GE+SC=72 A LightRaider may choose to become a DragonSlayer only after reaching a score of 8 in each of his character strengths. Also, a LightRaider may not have had any other special role before this point. A DragonSlayer automatically receives a permanent +2 in Knowledge (and Belt of Truth) and a +3 in Shield of Faith. A DragonSlayer may recite two WordRunes per round when in combat with a Dragon. If there is not a RaidLeader in the raid team, the DragonSlayer fulfills this role. Rarely will a DragonSlayer leave a battle before the dragon is defeated, it would dishonor the OLMN who sends the DragonSlayer into battle. Many DragonSlayers have been killed by fire while delivering a mortal blow to a dragon. *********************************************************** Encourager This Special Character Role is designed to support and encourage LightRaiders that they might be ever stalwart in carrying forth the Good News. A LightRaider who scores a seven or better in the following formula may be an Encourager: (2*LO + 2*MC + KI) / 5 = 7. The Encourager may boost Character Strengths, Abilities or any skill rating of TwiceBorn other than himself. This is done by forming a compliment based on a Sacred Scroll reference. To be successful, the encouragement must have a Difficulty Level that is at least as large as the Sword of the Spirit rating of the Encourager. The encouragement must be a sincere and applicable statement of support for the TwiceBorn. When properly done, the encouragement adds a temporary bonus for all Success Checks made against that Character Strength, Ability or skill. The boost is equal to a "plus 1" for every point of Sword of the Spirit held by the Encourager. The boost only affects the Character Strength or skill; the LightRaider may not recalculate any Ability or skill rating that draws on that ability. If used to boost a Character Strength (LOve, JOy, PEace,...) the bonus will last until the Character Strength has been actually damaged a number of points equal to the bonus, or one day, which ever comes first. If used to boost a Character Ability or skill (BWS, CO, RFI, WM,...) then the boost will last until the rating has failed a number of Success Checks equal to the bonus. This special ability may be used a number of times a day equal to the Encourager's Merciful Compassion rating, and only one such boost may reside on a LightRaider at a time. When the encouragement bonus lapses, there is no reason why the Encourager cannot attempt to boost the same rating, or a different rating of the same LightRaider. There is one additional limitation...the same scripture reference may be used only once per gaming session as an encouragement, so the player would do well to begin to collect a notebook of such encouragements, probably logged by Character Strength, Ability, or skill. WordRune references may not be used as encouragements. ************************************************************** PrayerWarrior The PrayerWarrior is designed for the pacifist player, and those who like a challenge. PrayerWarrior [COurage = 5 or more], (FA+LO+JO+PE+RME+KN)/6 = highest DL WordRune usable for this LightRaider. This is the only Special Character Class which a LightRaider may choose at the start of his first adventure. A PW may only use a staff, shield, or Hand-to-Hand combat to defend himself when necessary. The PW does not use weapons to attack for any reason. If a PW does attack a Dark Creature, dragon slave, or even a dragon, (Adventure Master's discretion) the LightRaider loses his PW status for one entire adventure (until the end of the next adventure). The PW uses WordRunes and TeamRunes normally, even when fighting dragons. [ But should not partake in MegaForce ] Special WRs for the PW are listed below. (Coming soon) During combat, one of the following actions may be performed; the PW may use a WR, defend himself, move, pray for one member of the Raid Team, or perform some other action. For every two rounds of prayer by the PW, the OLMN may grant a +1 to the Shield of Faith of one LightRaider on the team. This bonus will last until the end of the fight. This bonus may accumulate, so that some LRs can have +2, +3,... The PW must remain undisturbed during prayer, if he is hit, the PW can not contiunue prayer for d8 combat rounds. Also, a COurage roll must be made before each prayer, if failed, the PW must do something else that round. The PW must be within sight of the battle, and not hiding, for his prayer bonus to count. The bonuses awarded before a PW is disturbed or stops praying for any reason are not lost. As the PW grows in the OLMN, his prayer bonus grows also. At SS = 3, the prayer bonus is +2, SS = 6; +3, SS = 9; +4. There may be only one PrayerWarrior per Raid Team. *************************************************** Psalmist AGility = 7 or greater and (2*JO + PA + SC + HO)/5 = 7 or greater The Psalmist is devoted to praising the OverLord in music and song. A Psalmist gains these special abilities from their music classes at the Academy: *The Psalmist's keen ear grants a +2 on all LIStening rolls. *While playing, the Psalmist can receive a +2 on Converse with Animals, a +2 on Talk with Locals, or a +2 on Persuade Foe. But remember, all that sweet music could draw increased attention from Dark Creatures! A Psalmist may achieve limited WordRune effects by singing hymns or contemporary Christian music (Usually one verse will do. Specific song/WordRune exchanges to be submitted to the AM for approval before gametime!). (For higher level WordRune effects, multiple verses may be required, or an AGility roll made against the psalm's approximate Difficulty Level, or the AM may be VERY EXACTING about the Psalmist being on key! The Former Profession-based KNowledge bonus is extended to include a "Lore" check. The young Psalmist gets a +3 on all KNowledge checks involving people or things that may have been recorded in song. If the KNowledge check fails, the musician may try again after a night's "research" of swapping tales with another Psalmist, or even consulting a OnceBorn bard or minstral. (One roll per evening of research.) (Remember to make Righteously Mingle with Evil Success Checks as needed if the Psalmist has to go into low-class or evil establishments.) [The mere existence of a person or thing would probably be a Difficulty Level 2 check, specific information or current location would be at a higher Difficulty Levels.] A beginning Psalmist will undertake to build his instrument when entering the Special Character Role. The AM will provide a list of necessary, high quality materials. The work will take d10 weeks of spare time to complete. The instrument will require 2 Tals per week in additional hardware and tools to build and tune. (At the AM's descretion, the character may require special technical advice from a "serious musician" Non Player Character to construct the device.) The young Psalmist will also need to pay 3 Tals +5d10 Pennies for the construction of a travelling case to protect this fine music-maker. (If not, there is a 25% chance of the instrument receiving damage during battle.) If the entire RaidTeam does not aid in the funding of the device, it may be a long while before the first accompanied praise-sing! Instruments a Psalmist could use: dulcimer lute lyre mandolin recorder (flute) ************************************************** WindRider Requirements: Peace of 5, Faithfulness of 6 and ( 2*PE + 2*FA + AG + CO + SC ) / 7 = 7 or greater A WindRider receives a Giant Talking Eagle as an Animal Companion. A WindRider needs high Peace and Faithfulness ratings, since he could be hanging on to a Giant Eagle flying at 60-80 mph between mountain tops while being chased by a dragon. Good Self Control, AGility and COurage scores would help too. The WindRider receives a +2 bonus in VISion and a +2 to Lance while in aerial combat. A WindRider may ride bareback, but a special saddle must be used for aerial combat. --------------------------- Giant Eagle Physical Vitality 20 Battle Ability 6 Damage: beak - StarLot, claws - SL-2 VISion - 10 Size - 10 foot body, 15-20 foot wingspan (or larger) The Giant Eagle is able to carry one average sized human with minimal equipment at a time or two small children. Ground Speed - 1 square (hex) per round Flight Speed - unencumbered - 8 squares (hexes) per round, encumbered - 4 squares (hexes) per round Diving and climbing: +/- 50% of base speed. Flight Ceiling - 15,000 feet, with rider; 10,000 feet. ******************************************************
