Closest that's happened to me is Dave (my bro) and my mom were in the car
turning onto main street when they saw a tornado not far away...
Fortunately I didn't find that out until they were safe at home :)

How bad was the tornado?  Many tornados have popped up near where we live in
the years that I've lived in Kent (all 15 years of my life :). None have
done come close enough to hurt us at all.

The biggest worry would be if he lived in a trailer park... you know that's
where tornadoes always head :)

And 5 miles is a long way...  I would say that it's probably not worth
worrying about that much.  Of course, I don't have all the information, so I
can't say all that well...

I do, of course, hope that he's ok.
