This could work for some of the more common races as well. Again I like the idea of using all of the above to one extent or another and rather than having a generic origin for all DC's, explain each one's origin in their personal descriptions. Some could even be kept in the shadows of legend until a future adventure where their surprising origin is discovered (again, like the draconians of Dragonlance).
