Okay, I usually don't get into these conversations. I am not a regular player of computer games. Right now my game of choice is Triple Play 2001. Anyway, I am seeing a couple of things: 1) This game might not "glorify" evil. And as Joe put it, what Christian won't want to see the devil blown up by a superhero and evil is destroyed. But.....that is not the way of it, fantasy or not. According to God, not any of us, we are to resist the devil and flee from him. We are to rescue lost people from the destruction of sin. And help them meet their God and Savior to be saved. Christ is the One who engages the devil in battle and is the One who will ultimately defeat him. 2) Whether you believe it or not, we are ALL influenced by our surroundings. I have watched too many kids who watch pro wrestling (isn't that an oxymoron) saying that it doesn't effect. But then see they act towards authority and each other just like their favorite wrestlers. All things influnce us. It's the old computer saying: GIGO (garbage in, garbage out). 3) Christ said to those listening, you can't serve two masters at once. I'm not saying anyone who plays a game is serving another "god", but when it's games like that, you start walking too close to the edge of the cliff. And I don't want to see you go over the edge of the cliff because of the influences you get in different games. I've seen too many good guys fall, and fall hard because they got too close to the edge. You can play the game, but don't try to justify it with a spiritual base. Is it just a game or does it control more of you than God wants it too? We either serve God or "mammon". I don't want to upset anyone or seem "rude", but we have too many things that take us away from our focus on Jesus and that make us in-effective as His ambassadors. We need to be sharp enough and smart enough to engage our culture and to influence people towards Christ. Okay, okay, enough..... I just don't want to see any of you guys (or gals) get sucked up into stuff that drags you away from Jesus. yours because i'm His! Yes, there is a picture of him on the front of the game. However, that does not make it glorifying to evil. I must ask you, how much of the game have you played? Do you have a sound basis other than that it involves the devil, that you run across pentagrams occasionally, or that fantasy magic is used? The picture on the front cover is the main character in the game. It's not the adventurers who are named (except perhaps for Tyrael, but then again it's a little late to change the game name's franchise to the name of a relatively new character.) Basically, my point is, what would you prefer on the cover of the game? This game doesn't glorify the destruction of evil. It glorifies the embodiment of evil, thus it's graphic nature and tone. Just my 2cents as everyone says.
