Hello all in the name of our Lord, I am a newcomer to this forum, and have recently comeacross DR. I have "listened" to your questions on Diablo(1+2), and believe that I may be of some service. I have played Diablo many times, and am still currently playing it. I believe that Diablo is unChristian for a number of reasons. One, the imagery is deciededly evil. People hacked in two, after having obviously torture is not apropriate in any kind of game. Yes it may portray "real life" but how many of us believe that Diablo is real life. I have come from a satanic life before Christ and did not appretiate the very satanic symbols of the game such as the pentagram, since they hold for me bad memories. Other imagery could have been used to "lighten" the genre. Basically, the imagery is unnecessary and could easily have been sudstituted with more palatable material. Two, the background, or genre, is unbiblical. We do not attack satan. It is our ability to resist, or go on the defense steadfastly, against demonic assaults. "We wrestle not with flesh and blood..." Three, God is not even remotly hinted of in this game. Players are to go into the thick of demonic activity with little more than their own abilities. Even the paladin has little Godly backround, getting his powers from some Diety which is never named. This may be a light argument for me, and the player should make a call on this point. I have sometimes wanted to go online in Diablo playing a paladin to witness. My point is that a good God is not given the opportunity in game to show face, leaving this area open. Some people may not even bother thinking of the origin of the character's powers. Finally, the apostle Paul said to meditate on those things which were good, noble, and of worth to a christian, so it comes down to "are you useing your time here on earth wisly for the coming of our Lord. Time, Talents, and Treasure...are they Gods in your life. I have played Diablo many times, and have tried to quit playing many times. (Thankfully I have to go to my In-laws house to play, so I dont get to very often.) Would Jesus approve of us playing Diablo if He were watching the monitor over our shoulders. My answer is no, and I say that humbly asking Him to take it away from me. Thanks for all your time, May God illumine our paths...Jeremy K. Moore AMEN, Jeremy.
