Funny you should bring this up now....I was just thinking on this fact a few days
ago. I was hypothesysing that lust had been excluded for the reason that DR was
originally meant for a younger audience (at least, younger than many who play it
nowadays), and that it was deemed to "heavy" a subject to lay on AM's who might
not be prepared to lead a younger group through a study of such a sensitive
subject. Just a thought, though. These days, the way the game - and its players
- have evolved, it makes a little more sense to deal with something that's a very
real danger in today's society.

Given the nature of the sin of lust/easy living, isn't this a little high? I
would think it easier to detect a creature bent toward these vices.

I'm with Joe - this is a little too close to the Wood Sprite motto (well,
actually, they're exactly the same). However....looking into it a little deeper,
I begin to wonder about the Wood Sprite enchantment. First of all, it seems to go
in two different directions. The first one is a carefree, completely unserious
view of life. But the LRHB also says that they argue their "philosophies"
vehemently - including concepts centered around creation vs. evolution. For some
reason, that sounds like a discussion that a Wood Sprite would lose interest in
very quickly, because....well, they wouldn't really care one way or the other,
would they? It's too serious for them to waste time thinking about.

A lot of this contradiction could be alleviated with the entry of the centaur as
the "scientist" of the Dragon Lands. They're the ones who would be arguing about
the origins of the world, while the sprites were partying away. (Of course, it
would be natural that the sprites believed in random evolution - they just
wouldn't spend valuable "fun time" debating the point.)

Which brings us back to the Satyr. Since I think the Wood Sprites ought to just
be the "feel good/do it" gang, I would alter this motto, or even its general
philosophy, to reflect the subtle difference between the Satyr and the Wood
Sprites. The major difference I see is that the Sprites' enchantment is more of a
"free release," a passive, hands-off view of life - good times, no consequences.
The Satyr, however, would go a good step further than that. Their enchantment is
a far more active one, one that entices an individual to consciously seek out
their desires and to fulfill them at whatever cost. Good times....consequences be
darned. That's more the tact that lust takes, anyway. So their motto would
encourage people to pursue their desires to the farthest ends of the earth, to
continue to indulge their lusts - even after it DIDN'T feel good any more. Always
searching for that elusive satisfaction, that draught to quench the unquenchable
thirst. One set of sayings I've noticed that tends to go hand in hand with
justifying lust goes something like, "Hey, I'm only human! I've got natural
cravings, just like anyone else. When I'm hungry, I eat...." Etc., etc. You
know how it goes. Something along those lines would be good.

Along the same lines, is there something more appropos than "Feels Good"? That
still sounds too much like the sprites (although they don't have a specific sin
enchantment linked to them). I dunno....what about something like the Excusable
Urge enchantment, or the Justified Desire, or the Carnal Craving? Well, those may
not have the right ring, but something down that road might go with the creature a
little better.

Again, I agree with Joe - although it does seem a reflection on our Goodness,
Self-Control is really what this falls under. At the very least, one of these
should use a SC rating.

I like this idea, Steve. You're definitely on the right track. I'll be
interested in seeing how this turns out.
