Hello, this is Joe (Azariah), Due to popular demand, this is an update of the Akron DragonRaid group. We are currently meeting at my house and I am the AM. I decided to run a short adventure since we just finished a rather long playtest of Jack Ray's "County Faire". I chose Steve Carrington's "Sorcerer's Apprentice" which can be found at the DragonRaid Resources Page hosted by Rich Sezov. Never able to leave good enough alone, I got Steve's permission to edit the adventure. It soon turned into a rewrite. In any case, the premise is still the same, rescue some babies held by a sorcerer that were dedicated to magic on the Night of the Scarlet Moon. Meet the cast: Taran - Dave Staley Tirza - Kammy Bedwyr - Terry Elonwy - Beth Staley Barnaba - Anne This group wanted to rescue the children when they first heard of the tragedy, but Azariah convinced them to continue on the current mission (Rescue of the Sacred Scrolls). So it is about a year later, and the LightRaiders are going about their business at home in the Liberated Lands. Then, they hear/feel the unmistakable call of the OverLord in their hearts. They immediately pack their gear and begin travelling to the Passage Lakes. Days later they begin to meet each other on the roads north, but no one has a clue as to their mission. Once they all arrive at the designated Passage Lake, the adventure begins. *Warning! Spoiler-Do Not Read any further if you are a player!* S T O P ! G O B A C K ! * * * * * * Too Late! ============================================ A unicorn apears to the group at night fall and briefs them on their mission. Not wanting to be left behind, they all accept the challenge. (Has any player ever actually not accepted a mission?) The group wades into the passage lake and exits a large tree in the Heinous Highlands. A storm is building and rain is coming down almost in sheets. The group heads downhill along a dirt path as they were told to do. A large tree is hit by lightning and falls on Taran and Bedwyr. A large brown bear has to help the girls get the tree off the guys. After scraping mud off themselves, the team continues its trek. The storm lessens as they travel. A mile down the path there is another tree down and a couple of squirrels are talking about finding another home. They give the LRs some WordRunes and decide to go with the team. In the morning the group enters a village of destitute people who are the vassals of the Sorcerer Kent. The villagers have a xenophobic, appaplectic reaction to the team when the OverLord is mentioned. On the other side of town, the team meets Lucille the washer woman at work in the stream. It was hard work, but Lucille is won to the OverLord. She will take the LightRaiders to Kent's tower tomorrow morning. They all stay at Lucille's hut for the night. Most of the next day is spent climbing a trail through the hills, but before night fall, the sorcerer's tower is found. Magic spells protect the door and windows, but the Second Death WordRune (Rev 21:8) is used to dispell the evil guarding the uppermost tower window. After several attempts, a grappling hook and rope are thrown through the window. All climb the thirty feet or so and end up in the sorcerer's workroom. They look around a bit and head down the winding stairs. They pass through the bedroom, school room and storage room and into the cottage part of the keep. They look about a bit, then inspect the storage room and find a secret door in the fireplace. As the door is opened, a couple of goblins grab a few bundles of cloth and run out the other side of the room. One goblin tries to delay the LightRaiders. Soon, the team is chasing the goblins through long, dark caves. At a fork in the passage, the team takes the correct route, and eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel. As they emerge from the cave, they are confronted by a goblin, hobgoblin, and forest troll, all wanting a piece of LightRaider for dinner. The two goblins with the cying bundles are sitting on top of a boulder, ready to watch the show. That is where we stopped. May 16th is our next meeting. =======================================
