I've been looking at this discussion and the articles on the internet about Russell Stovers and the chocolate cross. I personally don't think much either way about it, but I am surprised a little about the callousness of some of you towards your brothers and sisters in Christ. We shouldn't just assume that these folks are complaining just to complain.

I have known a number of brothers and sisters who would be offended by the shallowness of this. And if you think about it, it does seem a bit ridiculous.

The cross that Christ died on is a symbol of our freedom. Something that we do not take lightly. I don't think any of you take it lightly. But to make it into a piece of chocolate, well...

I do find a bit of indifference in celebrating something like Mel Gibson's Passion while we give our children a chocolate cross.

Anyway, don't write off our brothers and sisters who might have a differing opinion on this. Remember that we are to be sensitive and loving to our brothers and sisters, even moreso than non-believers.

Brennan Manning talks about seeing two ladies in a shop looking at a gold cross necklace. They thought it was beautiful, exquisite. He was a bit shocked at their thought. Is the cross suppose to be beautiful? Is it exquisite?

I'm sure there could be an interesting discussion about this, but not at the expense of other Christians...

Just some thoughts
