Read the Bible in a year by reading Mark 6:30--56 today

Lord, Do This; He Says, You Do It!

The apostles were not rebellious, nor were they demanding; they just did not know what to do because they believed they did not have the means to feed five thousand men. Therefore, they approached Jesus,

"Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat." But He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?"
(Mk. 6:36, 37 NKJV)

They were right; they did not have the financial means to feed that many men. However, they were overlooking something. They were talking to the Creator of the universe. He was standing right there before their eyes. He made this fantastic earth; does He know how, and does He have the means, to supply five thousand men with bread? Hmmm, let me think about this. Yes, of course, He does!

Do we ever miss connections like that with the Lord?

Question from today's reading: Why were the apostles greatly amazed beyond measure?
