Read the Bible in a year by reading Luke 11:29--54

The Preacher Preached at Them

Is it right for the preacher to address the needs and problems of the people? Jesus did it and we are His students, learning from Him how to do things. After Jesus spoke about the Pharisees, listen to what happened.

Then one of the lawyers answered and said to Him, "Teacher, by saying these things You reproach us also."
(Lk. 11:45 NKJV)

Jesus did not back off and apologize, but He addressed the lawyers directly. If the preacher is saying things that pertain to you, whether he did that by design or not, consider what the word of God says and do what you have to do to be acceptable to God.

Question from today's reading: How did the lawyers approve of the deeds of their fathers who killed the prophets?
