Read the Bible in a year by reading Second Samuel 1 and 2 today

Beware of Fighting God's Leaders

A man reported that he had finished killing off King Saul. David said in response,

"How was it you were not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?"
(2Sa. 1:14 NKJV)

Saul was a wicked and arrogant man; nevertheless, he was the Lord's anointed. Therefore, any strike against Saul was a strike against the Lord's choice. That is not something that you want to do. David had the man who reported killing Saul executed.

Every time I hear or see a Christian attack leaders of the church, I tremble, knowing that those people have put themselves in league with the man David ordered executed, and that they are all worthy of death. Friends, even if leaders in the church are wrong, be very careful how you treat them!

Question from the reading: What did David promise the men of Jabesh Gilead?
