What God Wants

We are fixated on what we want to do and not do in the church. Is that the way that it is supposed to be? The apostles set a good example for us after Judas killed himself and they needed to replace him that there might be twelve apostles again. They began a prayer to God, saying, 

"You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen" (Ac. 1:24). 

Did you hear that? They all submitted their lives to the Lord. Therefore, they asked Him to show which of the two men they put forward, who both met qualifications to be an apostle, He chose. He is the Lord. We are His servants. He decides who does what and who does not. It is all of Him, not of us. Am I doing what the Lord wants me to do? On the other hand, am I doing what I want to do? Have I even asked Him what He wants me to do, then having asked, am I ready for what place in the church, in my family, in my community that He wants me to be?
