Read the Bible in a year by reading Nehemiah 1-3 today

Who Were Hananiah, Hanun, and Meshullam?
By Don Ruhl

Nehemiah wrote,

After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah made repairs in front of his dwelling (Ne. 3:30).

Who were Hananiah, Hanun, and Meshullam? I do not know; I just know that they helped repair the wall of Jerusalem. I also know that God knows who they were. He knew exactly what work they did. Moreover, I know that if they had not done their work, there would have been a serious defect in Jerusalem's defense. Even as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so a wall's protection is only as good as its weakest brick.

Likewise, everyone in a congregation or business can be very friendly and treat visitors well, but if there is one member with a contrary spirit, it might be that the visitor only encounters that weak member and we may have lost a soul. Therefore, every congregation is only as strong as its weakest member. Are you one of the strong members or one of the weak members?

Question from the text: How long was Nehemiah in Jerusalem before he started viewing the walls?
