This is a re-run from last year
Read the Bible in a year by reading Esther 3-5 today

Where God Wants Us
By Don Ruhl

Esther had an excellent opportunity to stop the slaughter of the Jews. What would she do? If she approached the king, as her cousin Mordecai suggested, there was the strong likely hood that she would die because no one could approach the king uninvited. Mordecai reasoned with her that if she remained silent, she would be exterminated along with the rest of the Jews. She replied (and notice the very last part),

"Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!" (Es. 4:16).

She finally arrived where God wanted her. How hard we try to run things. We carry the world on our shoulders. We refuse to do things God's way, because we are not sure that it will work, but we know that our way will work. With pure reason, Mordecai showed his beloved cousin that she was going to die either way. Therefore, why not die in a worthy cause, that of trying to save your people? However, coming to that conclusion was only possible once she realized, If I die, I die.

She finally gave herself up. She tried to save her life, but in doing so, she was about to lose it. When she gave up her life, she found it.

What have you done with your life?

Question from the text: How did Haman determine on which day to execute the Jews?
