Read the Bible in a year by reading Romans 7 today Why We Read the Old Testament By Don Ruhl The second reading of the day is always a reading from the New Testament, and that is what we shall do here. However, why do we read the Old Testament also? Romans 7 will answer that question, but I want you to note verse 12, "Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good" (Ro. 7:12). Christians get some odd ideas about the Old Testament. Sometimes we speak of it as though it was worthless, evil, and bad. If those are our views, or something similar, then we have misunderstood the purpose of the Old Testament greatly. Paul said that the Law was holy and he added that the commandment was holy, just, and good. Why then are we not living under the animal sacrifices and things of that nature? The problem was not the Law; the problem was man. The Law showed that man is sinful. We still need the Law to show us that. Then we see our need for Jesus Christ. That is why we read the Old Testament. Well, that is one among many reasons. www.GrantsPassChurchofChrist.com http://associate.com/groups/emaildevotionals/ To unsubscribe, send ANY message to: emaildevotionals-leave@...
