Thankfully He Knows Us!

	The Book of Nahum is filled with the wrath of God against the ancient city of Nineveh. It repented at the preaching of Jonah but had turned back to violence and sin and had no intention of repenting this time. It was now time for the 2400+-year-old city to be wiped off the face of the earth. Reading the Book of Nahum shows the overwhelming anger of God. It sounds as though He is going to destroy the whole earth, but in the midst of the promises of destruction there was hope for Israel.

	Yes, a mighty empire that ruled the earth was about to be drunk with the wine of the wrath of God, but He knew who His people were and they would be spared the destruction. Therefore, completely surrounded by prophecies of anger and destruction is this precious verse.

7	The LORD is good,
	A stronghold in the day of trouble;
	And He knows those who trust in Him.
	(Nah. 1:7).

	God still operates the same way, providing a similar promise for Christians.

	19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity. (2 Tim. 2:19).

	Regardless of what is going on around us, the Lord has not overlooked us, but is very aware of us. Therefore, do not despair, but place your hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.
