Family Can Change
By Don Ruhl

One moment family loves you; the next something happens, you know not what, and they reject you. Jacob knew the feeling. His cousins accused him falsely of taking away their father's wealth (Gen 31.1). Also, Jacob saw his uncle and knew things had changed, "And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and indeed it was not favorable toward him as before" (v. 2). It was time to leave and this was God's will also, "Then the LORD said to Jacob, 'Return to the land of your fathers and to your family, and I will be with you'" (v. 3). Interestingly, Jacob would have to return to his brother twenty years later, who wanted Jacob dead. However, even as time changed Jacob's uncle's attitude from reception to rejection of Jacob, so time changed Esau's attitude from rejection to reception.

Be wise. Know when to stay away from family and when to embrace family.
