To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 17.1-19 on April 19, AD 2008

Do Not Be the Offender
By Don Ruhl

Jesus warned us that we cannot go through life without encountering offenses, "Then He said to the disciples, 'It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!'" (Luke 17.1). Therefore, do not think that the Lord has forsaken you when people offend you. However, we need to make sure that we are not the ones doing the offending, for Jesus went on to say, "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones" (v. 2). Did you hear what the loving Lord Jesus said? He had strong words for the person who causes offenses. Let us then keep our lives clear of offenses so that we do not suffer a fate worse than having a millstone hung around our necks and be thrown into the sea.
