Read the Bible in a Year This morning Read Exodus 31--33 Later Moses Understands God While Moses is up in the mountain with God, the children of Israel are committing idolatry. God is offended and is ready to wipe out Israel. Then Moses pleads with God, saying, 11 LORD, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? (Exo. 32:11). Guess what Moses does when he goes down the mountain and witnesses Israel committing idolatry? In anger, he throws down the Ten Commandments, breaking the stones upon which they are written, grinds the idol into powder, spreading the powder upon the water, makes Israel drink the water, then orders the Levites to kill any impenitent Israelites. Oh, I think Moses understands now why God is wrathful! God always has a good reason for what He does. We may not see or understand the reason, but have faith; God knows what He is doing with your life.
