Read the Bible in a Year
This evening read Acts 2:22--47

What Sins Have You Committed?

Do you say, Great are my sins? Do your sins equal that of crucifying the Son of God? Do you think your sins surpass murdering Jesus Christ? I am going to guess that you said no. Do you also believe that God cannot forgive your sins? When you read the text assigned for today's reading, I hope that you will change your opinion.

When the Jews to whom Peter preached, finally realized what they had done, and they felt the sword of Peter's words cutting their hearts, they asked in desperation, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Here is what the Bible says next,

38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Act. 2:38).

Did you hear what Peter said? Those people who were guilty of crucifying the Lord were told, that as awful as their sin was, they could still have their sins remitted and then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! Wow! Did you also hear into whose name they could be baptized? Jesus Christ, the victim of this horrible crime, was offering forgiveness! Is He truly that forgiving? Yes, He is. Therefore, if He could forgive them, He can forgive you, regardless of the enormity of your sin.

Have you repented of your sins and been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ?
