Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Esther 1 and 2 Inward Beauty Esther first won everyone's favor by her physical beauty, but then she attracted them by her inward beauty, which was good, because that is the part that can last forever and forever improve. Watch the people and watch her in the following passage. 15 Now when the turn came for Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the king, she requested nothing but what Hegai the kings eunuch, the custodian of the women, advised. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all who saw her (Est. 2:15). While her beauty captivated others, she was not captivated by her own beauty. Therefore, she did not demand to be treated as the beauty that she was, but she humbly listened to the man who prepared her to meet the king. She could have been mean and ugly, but her beauty would have blinded everyone to such. She did not take undue advantage of her looks, which she really had nothing to do with, having inherited those things from her parents and being the creation of God, but her inward self revealed the true person, for what she was on the inside is what she created.
