Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Job 25--27 The Mere Edges of God's Ways The title of this devotional is from Job 26:14. 14 "Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways, And how small a whisper we hear of Him! But the thunder of His power who can understand?" (Job 26:14). Here is the background to Job's awesome declaration and subsequent question. Simply go back to verse 5 to see what Job showed of God's ways. 1. The Unseen Abode of the dead is open before God (vv. 5, 6). 2. The power of suspending earth in space (v. 7). 3. His ability to suspend multiplied tons of water in the clouds and atmosphere (v. 8). 4. He is so grand; yet, we cannot see Him (v. 9). 5. The containment of our atmosphere (v. 10). 6. Heaven trembles at His presence (v. 11). 7. His control of the storms at sea (v. 12). 8. His creation of the constellations (v. 13). Meditate on these eight things and you will be astounded at the work of God, but remember that you are only hearing a whisper of the edges of His ways! If this is only a whisper, what then shall we do if we hear the full thunderous declaration of Him and His works? Let us magnify the great Creator God of heaven with all our might!
