Read the Bible in a Year
This evening read Acts 14

Speaking to Change People

Listen to Acts 14:1 carefully.

1 Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed (Acts 14:1).

Luke wrote that Paul and Barnabas "so spoke" that people believed. How did the two men speak? Were they angry, condemning the people without offering them hope? Did they just give the cold facts to the Jews and Gentiles with no feelings of compassion for the salvation of their souls? Do you think they did what they could to show the people that they were good speakers?

Friends, as you read the Bible, observe how preachers in both the Old and New Testaments spoke. Then imitate them. See how it affects the people to whom you speak.
