Read the Bible in a Year
This morning read Job 38--40

Who Is Listening to You?

Job opened his mouth and the thoughts of his heart poured out. Three of his closest friends, Eliphaz, Zophar, and Bildad, heard what he said. The four men engaged in a debate, and the story showed that there was a young man, Elihu, who heard every word Job and his friends spoke. Elihu saw the error of the four men, but addressed Job, rebuking him for what he said. There may have been other people listening, but read this verse,

1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said... (Job 38:1).

Oh boy, Job was in trouble. Job may not have realized that a young person was listening since Job was so focused on his debate with his friends. Likewise, Job may not have realized that God was listening, since Job was so focused on his suffering, his debate, his feelings, and so on. Whether he knew anyone or God was listening, does not change the fact that others were listening.

Are there young people hearing your words? What are they learning from you?

Is God hearing your words? What would He say in response to you?
