This evening read Acts 20:1--16

Church Leaders and Their Congregations

Elders, preachers, deacons, teachers, and other leaders in the church live for the members of the church. They think about the church and her various members constantly. They give up many hours to help the church. Yet, sometimes they have to avoid the church for a time. Please do not misread those times. Paul avoided the church in Ephesus while traveling, knowing that to be with the people he loved would take a great deal of time, and he was headed for a great evangelistic effort.

16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the Day of Pentecost (Act. 16:2).

At other times, church leaders just need some down time. Whatever the reason, let them have their time, and when they are refreshed, you will have more of their hearts and ears than you thought possible.
