Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Psalms 43--45 Why Am I So Down? How do we explain those times when we are down? The psalmist wanted to know why he was down. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. (Psa. 43:5). What do you do during those times when there seems to be no explanation for why we are feeling the way that we are? What did the psalmist tell himself to do? He told his soul to hope in God, knowing that a time for praising God would come, and knowing that God is the help of our countenance, that is, He is the One picks up our souls and brings assurance and joy back into them. The next time you are down, remember the words of the psalmist. Hope in God. Try it and see what happens. Be patient when you do, not expecting joy overnight, but keep looking to Him.
