Read the Bible in a Year This evening read Romans 6 Winning Over Sin I do not have to tell you that it is a struggle to overcome sin. Listen to what Paul says in Romans 6:11, 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 6:11). When you read Romans 6, you will discover that Paul is discussing why we cannot continue in sin. In the verse above, he reveals two important things. 1. Reckon yourself to be dead to sin. 2. Reckon yourself to be alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. We have to do both. If we only follow one, we will not conquer sin. If we strategize how we are going to overcome sin, but do not think of living for God through Christ, then our focus will only be on sin, and we will actually end up sinning. If we only think about living in God, sin will sneak up on us and capture us. Therefore, think about avoiding sin, but also think about your rich life in God.
