Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Psalms 84--86 We Have More Freedom Than the Sparrow Picture the following, 3 Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young-- Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, My King and my God. (Psa. 84:3). The worship activities of humans filled the temple. Yet, birds, in particular the sparrow and the swallow, would fly in and make a home and build a nest. How fascinating! See up where the ceiling and the wall meet a mud nest of a swallow. It is right in the holy temple of God in Jerusalem. The birds come and go because they are the creation of God and He does not forbid them. Then the psalmist says, 4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah (Psa. 84:4). The birds had free reign in and out of the house of God, but the house of God was not built for them. It was built first for Israel, and now Jesus Christ has built the spiritual house of God, the church, for all people to have free access to God's presence. Take up residence in His house. He will not forbid you from coming in.
