Read the Bible in a Year
This evening read Romans 16

You Are Approved

In Romans 16, Paul greeted many of the saints in Rome. He gave different descriptions of many of them. Perhaps what he said about one also applied to the others. What made me wonder this is what Paul said about Apelles.

10 Greet Apelles, approved in Christ (Rom. 16:10).

Certainly the other Christians Paul greeted were approved in Christ or they would not be the people of Christ. In verse 13, Paul said, "Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord..." (Rom. 16:13). Apelles was chosen in the Lord and Rufus was approved in Christ. Why then did Paul give one description about a Christian and say something else for another Christian? Perhaps people disapproved of Apelles, but in Christ, Apelles found approval. Perhaps people rejected Rufus, but Christ chose Rufus.

Whatever the reason was, Apelles was now approved in Christ. Now that is a good feeling. If you are a Christian, do you realize that you are approved in Christ? Fill your thought with that today.
