Read the Bible in a Year This morning read Psalms 120--122 God Is Our Shade Speaking of God as our Helper, the psalmist said, 5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. (Psa. 121:5, 6). Let us put ourselves in the land of Israel during the summer in the middle of the day. Oh, that sun is hot. When it is that hot, it is like the middle of winter in the colder regions of the earth when people stay indoors where it is heated, so, in the hot climates, if there is air conditioning, people stay indoors. What did people do before the days of air conditioning? I remember, because almost my entire life, part of it in hot Southern California, I did not have air conditioning. However, the place where I live now does not have air conditioning, yet, my wife, and I are cool indoors, although it gets very hot in the summer in Grants Pass, Oregon. This summer we have had many days over 100 degrees F. It is cool in the guest house where we live temporarily because there are huge trees on the East and West sides of the house and what a difference it makes. The shade is a blessing many times over. It gets hot and miserable living in this sinful world, but if you are in Christ, God is your shade. He is a blessing many times over!
