Read the Bible in a Year
This morning read Psalms 146 and 147

In What Does the Lord Take Pleasure?

That which impresses man, does not impress God. That which impresses God, does not impress man. Material things impress man, but material things are nothing to the God of the Spirit. Spiritual things impress the God of the Spirit, but spiritual things are nothing to the man of the flesh. Therefore, listen to Psalm 147:10, 11,

10	He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
	He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11	The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
	In those who hope in His mercy.
	(Psa. 147:10, 11).

Look at it this way. Ants herd aphids. If one ant brags to you that his herd of aphids is better looking than the herd of aphids on the next plant, do you stand back and honor that ant, promising not to dispense with his aphids? Okay, just as I thought, you do not take pleasure in such boasting.

What do you think of the people who love you? Oh, so you think highly of those people. That makes sense. All right then, what should be the aim of our lives? Shall we devote our lives to the accumulation of material possessions and the improvement of our bodies; or shall we devote our lives to fearing and loving God? Yes, we need things and we want to be healthy, but let us not be consumed with these things.
