Read the Bible in a Year This evening read Second Corinthians 5 Tents versus Buildings Do you like to camp? I do, but not in a recreational vehicle. I want to stay in a tent. However, I do not want to live in a tent. A tent is a nice temporary shelter that allows me to get closer to creation, but a tent is flimsy, easily damaged, and a poor insulator from the world. No, I want a house, a building, which is sturdy, not easily damaged, and protects me from the elements of the world. Transfer that thinking to our bodies. 1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens (2 Cor. 5:1). Our bodies are flimsy, easily damaged, and poor insulators from the world. However, God will give us new bodies that will be like buildings, which are sturdy, impossible to damage, and separated from the earth. This blessing comes to those who do not give undue attention to their natural bodies, but who give the proper attention to their spirits.
