Read the Bible in a Year
This morning read Ezekiel 16 and 17

Wedded to the Lord

In Ezekiel 16, God through Ezekiel reminded Jerusalem of her beginning and how God loved her. In verse 8, He spoke of taking her as a wife,

8 "When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine," says the Lord GOD (Eze. 16:8).

This is what a wedding is. It is a time of love and so a man and a woman cover for what is lacking in the other, and they swear an oath to one another and enter into a covenant. Then the woman belongs to the man and the man belongs to the woman.

Is this not what happens when we make the decision to follow Jesus Christ? It is a time of love and the Lord sees us that we are naked, missing many things and He provides for us. We swear an oath to one another and enter into a covenant. This covenant we must not break. He will remain loyal to us up to and through death. Will we do the same? Do you know that you are wedded to the Lord? He looks at us and says, You are Mine. Do we look at Him and say, You are mine?
