>> I have IM on a CD but I am also pretty sure its not the latest. I couldn't
find anything in it on QT 3 for example. And with each rev of the OS, you'd
need a new CD. <<
Even the downloadable versions can be distressingly out-of-date; they must
hide the publication date somewhere but I've never found one beforehad. In
one memorable recent experience I downloaded the whole of IM Imaging II, only
to find that it dated from something like 1996 and had not a word to say
about Appearance, which is what I'd been trying to learn about in the first
place. The punchline is that while babysitting the download (14.4 modem + AOL
= you don't go anywhere) I messed about with Imaging I and various people's
sample code and ended up figuring out all the stuff I _thought_ I'd need
Imaging II for, and was able to throw out a long list of questions I'd
planned to post here :-)

Drifting a little OT here, but can anyone remember where Isaac Asimov wrote
that wonderful little piece describing the perfect self-contained
information-and-entertainment source... The Book?
