Hi Hans, When you say "large", how large. Millions of characters or even Billions, or just a few hundred thousand? I suspect that in most instances, because of its relative convenience AND speed, that most of us use the RECORD structure. Multi-dimensional arrays work well as do FBs special INDEX$ string arrays. Each has its particular strength, but all are exceptionally fast AT MOST SIZES we normally encounter. If we're talking about the number of grains of sand on one of Derek's Beaches, then it is possible that you need something else. Incidentally and pardon my ignorance, I kind of know what a B-Tree is, but what is a B-Tree Helper? Did I note someplace that you live in Denmark?
