I agree.  Even more useful is a well-documented shell program to handle common
tasks (the old FBII manual was replete with listings for these).  Then you can
look at how the shell program does things and change it only if necessary.  In
my current project, I would have loved to have had a shell program for
implementing the common commands in a File menu.
