Wish I could offer some help, but my G3 PowerBook (my wife's xmas present 
to me) worked right outta the box just fine with OT and PPP. And I can't 
wait to host 8.1 on her for OT 1.3 and the HFS+ support. Been running a 
beta of 8.1 for a couple of months on my home machine, the connections 
have been quicker, its been less prone to disconnects, and the transfer 
speed has been way faster. 

Course my ISP doesn't require any special script support, so it hooked up 
just fine after I entered the data and has been admirably running ever 
since.
