This is considered a feature, not a bug, in Help Viewer. Your opinion 
may vary, of course.

The Carbon-based version of the Help Viewer does not handle 
AppleGuide files, by design. (It's such a headache.) The Classic 
version of Help Viewer does if you recompile the Guide files and add 
a resource as described in the Apple Help doc.

I'm afraid that's right. Don't see any easy way around it, either. I 
can talk to the AppleHelp engineer (yes, there is only one, I'm 
afraid) and see if she knows of any way around this, but I advise 
against holding one's breath. ;^)
