According to a very old Macworld article I found online via a search via
Google using Pastel Development (the company) circa 1994 I think:

Surely some Macsbug capable tracer could find where yond program is getting
year challenged and negotiate a possible workaround? Unless the software is
biased otherwise in the algorithms.

Sounds like you have found a good niche for your next program otherwise...
