Correction: I wrote about Default Folder by Jon Gotow: > The cutest Default Folder trick lets you get your modal > dialog focus instantly into any directory you have visible > under the (backgrounded) Finder. My subsequent statement that "CoolViews" cripples "Default Folder"'s 'mousing feature' is off base since the two are quite compatible under OS8.1 (which I don't use). What I should have said is: << Incidentally, if anyone wants "CoolViews" to work beyond OS8.1 contact me for a promising tho imperfect patch that Graham Herrick made for me. It is OK for 8.6 and my guess is that it will work up to 9.x. The chief imperfection is that it involves using the OS8.1 Finder under OS8.6, and that cripples the neat "mousing" feature of "Default Folder" -- at least until Jon Gotow provides me with a similar "Default Folder" patch to let it cope with the 8.1 Finder under OS8.6! >> I'll shout if that happens! Of course, the best thing would be for someone to make "CoolViews" function under standard OS 8.x and 9.x without Finder jerry-rigging. But Graham Herrick warns that that is tough going. Maybe I got it all right this time but as Jim Henson would have said: "don't bet the farm on it". Cheers Laurent S.
